Little Orbit has primarily focused it’s games on popular cartoons like Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 and DreamWorks’ Madagascar, but it’s now moving focus to original works, it has announced that it’s made the acquisition of “GamersFirst”, the owner of MMOFPS APB Reloaded.
Little Orbit CEO Scott says the company has a several reasons to move away from licensed games. Typically the main issue is having to deal with the licensor of the intellectual property, as they often safeguard story, characters and lore to maintain protect their IP. It’s a rather complex process that involves many steps of approval. It was noted that Little Orbit has had to rush development of games in the past because the script is approved at the last minute.
What this means for APB at this time is at least, a fresh set of eyes on a game that’s essentially been on auto-pilot for some time, time will tell if the adaptations the new owner will undertake will make it popular and “fresh” again.
